Amy Simoes grew up as an artistic and spiritual person. At a very young age she began painting and drawing but, as she grew older, Amy felt the need to express herself physically. That compelled her to enroll in the acting program at the Academy of Broadcasting Corporation.

Reaching deep within herself and utilizing all the emotional tools of acting, she landed her first film gig in Ervin Chartrand's film "Sister." Amy played Amanda, a young girl who became a child prostitute to support her family. She studied vigorously to reach a complex character with a tough edge who, in reality, was a trapped little girl wishing for a better life. She accomplished this within four days prior to shooting!

After "Sister," Amy went on to play Sweetie, a 14-year-old , Southern, Christian girl and Gorgine Brandish, a playwright/director in the film The Dazzling Andersons by Rebecca Gibson. Amy played both an innocent and mature role for this film, challenging her as a versatile actress during different takes.

On stage, Amy played Hermia in the Academy of Broadcasting's rendition of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Although Amy wasn't keen on this role she still managed to burst onto stage with full emotion, bringing Hermia down in tears.

Since graduating, Amy has dedicated herself to an acting career. She keeps in contact with The Winnipeg Film Group, eagerly attends Jeff Skinner's monthly Actor Jams at the Actor's Training Center of Manitoba and participates in Matthew Harrison's Acting workshops through the Actor's Foundry to further improve her skills. Amy completed the Basic Filmmaking Workshop at the Winnipeg Film group for beginning Directors to better educate herself as an actress. This new knowledge has made her a better actress and she plans one day to make films of her own.

Among the teachings and experiences Amy has received through acting, her life has paved who she is today. With wisdom and bravery Amy hopes to tell the many stories of her life through different characters in her acting. She wants go past fear to gain real trust in a performance, something that most actors won't reach in order to touch the audience in their best and worst times. In doing so, she also wants better understand people from different walks of life as well as herself. Amy's love of art is buried deep within her soul and couldn't imagine a world without it, and through acting, hopes to touch people through her performances.
