Rod's Bio

Rod Trevino is from a small farming community in deep southern Texas. He grew up in a small town population 13,000. The closest thing to a big city he’d ever seen was San Antonio.  At an early age he was interested in music and started playing music at age 9.

At age 14 he and his family moved to the West Coast where he was introduced to jazz music. He immediately fell in love with the music and started playing jazz saxophone in High School. Rod’s School jazz band was exceptional and eventually toured U. S. States such as Washington, Oregon with a stop at the Worlds Fair in British Columbia Canada.

Rod Currently heads "Groove Fusion, The Bay Area's Live Music Band" and credits his band leading skills to the examples he saw as a child growing up and the band directors he’s had including DC Chamber, Frank Sumarez, Bernie Berk and the Aleman brothers from southern Texas.

Rod’s Goal for the his band is to continually grow musically and produce the cleanest, tightest sound possible for there given talent level. His goal is also to impact others positively through his music and be a good example of how to be a great musician and also live responsibly by not throwing your life away on drugs, alcohol and the various other activities that often accompany the lives of professional musicians.

Rod is a family man.  He is in love with Gina his wife of 12 years and together they have two beautiful children Michael and Nicole ages 5 and 3.  He works for an ISP at one of the largest telecom companies in the world and enjoys spending time with his kids and family.  

Rod uses his day job to support his wife and family and uses music as an escape to unwind after a long 40 hour week.  Groove Time Productions has grown into a side business that the members of Groove Fusion operate together.  

Rod's fellow band members are also long time friends of over 12 years or more.  For more information on:

Thanks for taking the time to read this profile. I’d like to thank every one that has ever came out to one of our performances and to those that will in the future. Thanks for all the support and the love you’ve shown the band. Thanks to the best band members a guy could have and for the way you put up with my perfectionism when it comes to producing the sound we’re trying to achieve. I promise not to be a dictator. Thanks to my family mom, sister, brother in Florida. I’m just sorry dad isn’t still with us to be able to see this. Thanks to my wife and kids and for the one person that makes this all possible, the man upstairs.
