Music attorney, musician, music lover.
I've been a musician for most of my life. I play several instruments, have performed in rock bands, chamber groups, wind ensembles, and in studio projects. I’ve also composed music in various styles and for use in a variety of media. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music and worked in various areas of the Boston music community before attending law school.
Anyway, combining my music background with law was one of my best decisions to date. I founded the Music Law Firm to provide fair and understandable legal advice without confusing my clients with all of the unnecessary legalese. . . you know, the aforementioned party of the first part stuff.
In my practice, I represent artists, producers, indie labels, managers, songwriters, bands, and just about anyone involved with music. I also work with all of the issues related to obtaining and linking any kind of music to film.
I really love what I do and it’s fun to talk about it with people who are interested in this field of law. I’ve spoken before both student and attorney groups including 'Building the Future: Young Bar Leaders Roundtable' a panel moderated by ABA President Greco, 'A Day in the Life of an Arts Practitioner' a Massachusetts Bar Association's CLE, and 'An Evening with Entrepreneurs' a panel at Berklee College of Music.
I offer a series of educational seminars through my law firm for musicians and for filmmakers regarding using music in film projects. I have an informational website with articles on music law here I'm also on the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts faculty (music law course for lawyers so they can offer their services through VLA) and I'm on the Berkleemusic.com faculty ("Legal Aspects of the Music Industry")
