| Steve Thomas Musician Acton, MA guitarist, producer
Steve Thomas is an accomplished and multifaceted musician whose breadth of experience enables him to be perform comfortably in a wide range of musical styles. The wealth of this musical experience was gained through years of playing and recording in the New England music scene. Steve is a skilled and versatile guitarist with his own unique contemporary sound that also pays homage to the past. One can hear the influence of the rich choral style of Joe Pass and Barney Kessel mixed with the intriguing linear and textural pallet of Jim Hall in Steve’s sound. Blended with these, are the harmonic expansions and rhythmic freedoms characteristic of post-modern and contemporary jazz, progressive rock and European art music. These influences include the Allman Brothers, Bella Bartok, BB King, Clifford Brown, Joe Diorio, John McLaughlin, Mauro Giuliani, McCoy Tyner, Tangerine Dream, Yellowjackets and Yes. Steve is a polished and sophisticated composer, as well as an instrumentalist. His harmonic influences come primarily from post-bop chordal sensibilities. His forms however, probably owe the greatest debt to art music such as Debussy and Stravinsky. Steve’s acrobatic rhythms are drawn from bebop, jazz, latin and funk.
