T.J. English
T.J. ENGLISH is a noted journalist, screenwriter and author of four books, including most recently Havana Nocturne: How the Mob Owned Cuba... And Then Lost It to the Revolution, a non-fiction account of U.S. mobster infiltration of the Caribbean island in the years before Fidel Castro.
He is also the author of The Westies, a best-selling account of the Hell’s Kitchen Irish Mob in New York, and Born to Kill, a harrowing account of a Vietnamese-American gang based in New York City’s Chinatown. His book, Paddy Whacked: The Untold Story of the Irish American Gangster, was turned into a two-hour documentary on the History Channel. As a journalist, English has written about criminal justice issues for Esquire, Playboy, New York and other publications.
He is also a screenwriter who has written episodes of the television crime dramas NYPD Blue and Homicide, for which he was awarded the Humanitas Prize for humanitarian writing in the arts.
