Basically, here's what we do.  We make compilation discs and distribute them at concerts to the fans for free as they leave the venues.  Bands can choose from a list on our http://www.thornpromotions.com or profile of concerts that they might want to have their music distributed at.  Once the band makes a decision, their next step would be to submit payment and music by the deadline.  On the disc we put the Band Name, Track Title and Website URL.  Each band receives 5 copies of the disc and we post photos of the promotion usually within 48 hrs online.  This way the bands actually see physical proof of their music being distributed.
