In 1996 he released his first instrumental album entitled Andrew Oye and the Wankin Family. It received critical praise for versatility and was featured on Much Music.

By 1999 Andrew forged a recording relationship with Producer Alec Watson (Great Big Sea, Spirit Of The West, Michelle Wright) Andrew played on countless sessions and albums working alongside session musicians like Doug Elliott (the Odds, Colin James) Bill Sample (Jim Byrnes Show) Vince Dietritch (Spirit Of The West, Great Big Sea) Bob Funk (Patricia Conroy).

In 2003 his music helped garner a soundtrack nomination or the short film "Salmon Chanted Evening". In 2005 he landed the job of scoring the movie Myth a film created by British filmmaker Neil Jackson and produced by industry legend Ed Richardson of X-files and Starslost fame.

In December 2006 Andrew submitted a soundtrack for the MFP(musicforproductions.com) home page video tutorial. The top 5 tracks were selected and the first prize was awarded to Andrew for his funky soundtrack.
