| Ceddy Actor New York, NY Actor. Singer. Songwriter. Playwright. Poet.
Cedric Jones first stage appearance was as Little Boy Blue in a PS73 Brooklyn production when he was no more than six years old. Once bitten, he has been onstage since. Joining the high school chorus led to work with the Marlboro Players, a community theatre group in Bennettsville, SC. This in turn encouraged him to major in theatre at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. After graduating from Winthrop (where he has the distinction of being the institution's first Homecoming King), Jones traveled to Atlanta, GA where he teamed up with talented guitarist Rusty Marshall to form the acoustic act Marshall Jones. Although their live show mostly consisted of cover songs, the collaboration led to the creation of a hand full of original tunes, among them, “Dear Michael,” which was a favorite at performances. Along with Adam Busga on bass, they also created electronic tracks such as “Ain’t Nobody’s Business” and “Perfect Love Song.” Neither was ever performed live. Later, Kendall Brock became part of the live show. Now called Marshall Jones & Brock, the trio enjoyed a modest following in the Atlanta Buckhead area. When Jones left the group for New York City, Marshall and Brock continued to perform under the name Ban Joe Gibbons. Once in the Big Apple, Jones continued to sing and act, landing roles in various off-off Broadway productions. Recently, he teamed up with fellow performer/writer Lee Cavellier to create and star in “GUY PRIDE! A Musical Revue.” Which premiered at Don’t Tell Mama. Off stage, Jones has authored such plays as Trouble in Paradise, and Verses (winner of the 2000 Emerald Theatre Best Play Award.) Both plays are in works to be produced later in 2008. He is also the author of the newly released collection of poetry I Wear The Colour Green. Cedric Jones will appear every Wednesday in June at GUY PRIDE: The World's 1st MAN-sical!
