| Daysahead Band / Contemporary Jazz / Progressive Rock / Soul Stone Mountain, GA Jazz-n-Roll
Formed in 2003, Atlanta-based Daysahead continues to chart an innovative musical course that weaves jazz, rock, and soul into a unique, melodic and at times hard-driving sound the band has coined “Jazz-n-Roll.” Founded by guitarist Steve Wright (Richmond, VA), and vocalist Kim Leachman (Baton Rouge, LA), the band is rounded out with bassist Brandon Gilliard (Anderson, SC) and drummer James Barrett (Baton Rouge, LA). Daysahead’s debut CD, titled Turning Point, boldly builds a bridge between jazz, rock and soul. Since its release, Turning Point has received critical acclaim in the U.S. and abroad and Daysahead was nominated last fall in the best duo/group category of the 2006 SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards.
It’s no surprise that Daysahead’s popularity and fan base continue to grow as they tour to promote Turning Point. Their energetic, vibrant performances are being featured on TBS STORYLine Soundstage television series as well as BET Jazz “Soul Sessions”. They’ve played to enthusiastic audiences at numerous musical festivals including the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, National Black Arts Festival, Bayfest Music Festival, and Richmond Fine Arts Music Festival. They have also brought “Jazz-n-Roll” to venues in and around Atlanta including Churchill Grounds, Grand Hyatt Buckhead, Vino Libro, 5 Spot, The Sweet Lowdown, The Grape, The Globe, Sambuca Jazz Café, and Apache Café.
Daysahead has been privileged to share the stage with national and international recording artists such as Al Green, Angie Stone, Russell Gunn, and Leon & The Peoples. The band looks forward to the next chapter in their musical journey with the release of their new CD in early 2008.
