Beat scholar, party scientist, ragga maniac, and remixer of artists from M.I.A. to Gregory Isaacs, DJ C continues to spread his fiercely eclectic gospel of crunkment, mashstep, regga-bounce, and grime-hall across the land. He's been pumping out a series of records on U.S. labels like Kid606's Shockout, and his own Mashit, as well as U.K. labels like Death$ucker and Scandal Bag. The tunes have been killing club sound-systems and airwaves worldwide. Legendary BBC Radio 1 host John Peel chose Mashit as a "label of the month" in October, 2004, and featured a DJ C mix of Mashit tracks. He's also been dropping remixes for singers like M.I.A. (XL Recordings), and reggae legend Gregory Isaacs (Shockout/Tigerbeat6). He recently collaborated with Chicago based ragga vocalist Zulu on vinyl releases for 2 labels; a 7-inch on Strategy's Community Library imprint, and a 12-inch on the Bristol, U.K. based Death$ucker label. Aside from all the vinyl singles, the Cozy Music label recently released a 6-track, download-only EP of DJ C tunes, and he's currently finishing up work on a full-length album. He's also got various new remixes in the pipeline, including one for Jill Cunniff of Lucious Jackson, and one for Rob Da Bank's (BBC Radio 1) Sunday Best label. In addition to recording, he's been busy DJing and performing live for crowds the world over, while holding down a weekly DJ residency at the Beat Research night in Cambridge, MA.
