Elyse Jacobson
Violin / Classical / Rock/Pop / Other
Berlin, Berlin , DEU
The Adventurous Violinist

Musically inclined since birth, Seattle native Elyse Jacobson began studying the violin at the age of five. During her teen years, mentorship from members of the Philadelphia String Quartet ignited in her a lifelong passion for chamber music, and she went on to be a member of several award-winning small ensembles up through her early 20s. This led her to work with some of the world's finest ensembles, including members of the Kronos, Penderecki, Lafayette, Chester, and St. Lawrence quartets. A dedicated classical musician, Elyse won her first professional symphony-orchestra position at the age of 19, and spent a number of years performing regularly with various orchestras in Washington and British Columbia. Until recently, she held the Concertmaster position for Plastic Acid, the world's first and only fully-electrified symphony orchestra. Elyse gets a big kick out of the diversity within her career, having performed and recorded with a wide range of artists from hip-hop megastar KanYe West to jazz-bluegrass legend Darol Anger, all the way to hardcore metal band Bleeding Through, pop idols Marianas Trench and Mark Hildreth, classic-rockers 54-40 and The White, and Persian Pop sensation Hesam Deihimi, among others. In 2006, Elyse toured Alaska and East Asia as first violinist of the Delphinus String Quartet, ensemble-in-residence on the M.V. Sapphire Princess. She recently completed a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance at the University of British Columbia, and has spent the last five years (2004-2009) actively performing and teaching in Vancouver and the surrounding areas. She is excited about her recent move to Berlin, Germany, and can't wait to see what's in store for her career. Elyse is a founding member of progressive-rock-fusion group The Living. They released their sophomore album, Bedd Tracks, in June 2009.

CommentElyse,

Very, very nice work! Both the Brahms and Bartok performances are quite enjoyable. Keep up the excellent work. Based on these examples, I think your continued education on the violin will yield superb results in your future performances. I am honored to be in your network!

Commentan Awesome right back at ya. This looks like a pretty cool site, thanks for passing it along. I'm finally getting a little more focused on music again, playing a show in july, meeting up with a drummer soon - looks like one more way to keep at it. I just checked the date for your next show and it's the same night as my aunt's 50th, hopefully I can make it there after getting nice and looped with the family.
