Voice Over Actor/On Camera Talent

ED VICTOR BIO – Brandishing the Big Gun

With an accomplished and extensive career in advertising under his belt, Ed Victor has worked with some of the best voice and on camera talent in the business. He’s effectively drawn from his writing, producing and directing experiences, coupled with as many years in the recording studio, to develop and establish his own parallel voice over success…

After graduating with a Broadcast Journalism Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit (Also Casey Kasem’s Alma Mater), Victor went on to land a production job at a Detroit television station, hoping to one day land an on-air roll through the production-back door.

His hopes of on-camera fame were soon dashed after budget cuts, and he wound up filling in for a vacationing copywriter at a small suburban Detroit ad agency. The frugal owner seeing that young Victor had writing, directing and voice over talent, decided to extended his original copywriter’s vacation to permanent status and made Victor his new “multi-tasker”.
And with that, so began Victor’s journey into the world of advertising with a side of voice over.

Like all burgeoning “Creatives”, Victor moved from agency to agency, climbing the ranks to Creative Director status. He led creative teams at J. Walter Thompson, Young and Rubicam, McCann Erickson and finally, after years of jumping around, he settled into his own ad shop with a handful of clients and a solid if not booming voice-over career.

Victor’s own advertising agency reached $25 million in billings and touted national and international clients affording him the ongoing opportunity of voicing everything himself!  His colleagues, friends and clients deemed him a “mini version” of legendary voice and ad man, the late Hal Riney.

An Emmy for a television show he created and shelves of countless creative awards later, Victor gave up the frenetic world of Advertising Executive to return to his original love - working behind the microphone and, in effect, advancing his success as a world class voice actor.

Today, Victor is considered one of the “BIG GUNS” in the voice over business. This VO sharpshooter packs a fully loaded arsenal of Commercials, Promos, Trailers, Narration, Video Games and a mounting roster of top national and international clients--his record (hyperlink to resume/client list) proves to warn that he is, indeed, a voice to be reckoned with. So go ahead, book ‘em, he’ll make your day.

CommentI got started doing voice overs about 30 years ago. I was a disc jockey right out of high school for a radio station in Ohio. My first real gig. From there I went on to work at several ad agencies over the years, the whole time doing tv and radio commercials - I've been doing them ever since. The clients have gone from local Ford and Chevrolet car dealerships to national work for both.
Agents don't do much these days. An occasional gig here and there. But don't rely on Agents to make your career for you. I've built up my client base over the last 15 years through writing, networking, producing, directing and anything else related to the business.
