Throughout my life I have always been an explorer; a person who always asked questions. The answers didn’t always come easily, which got me into trouble with authority figures that were either impatient or robotic in their answers. Some of the questions I have asked have been about religion. In my Catholic school education I never found spiritual release, although I had been able to find it through my photography.  Photography as an art form has always depended on technology of the day to drive the art forward. Photographers have continuously redefined the photographic image and the photographer.  As a present day photographer I have a box full of new tools to enhance the photographic image. For the last five years I have added a digital dimension. This dimension has allowed me to expand the reality of the images that enhances the viewers’ participation.

I see photography as the eye that doesn’t blink, that doesn’t judge, but is an enhanced eye that can view the world on another plane of existence. My portraits tend to look sincerely into the person’s deeper self or the emotions. I look, not for what is beautiful, but what is honest in a person. My landscapes are a study of the spiritual truths of nature in black and white; the beauty of greens translated into graduated shades of gray. 

Minor White was once quoted as saying: “No matter how slow the film, the spirit will wait for the photographer.”
