In this diversion from his classical roots, Pellarin has drawn his band mates from Savoy, in the area of the Rhone-Alps of France. Together they develop a musical body that conjures the covert “night” out of the postcard-pretty “day.” This is music that pours darkness into the light and light into the darkness, a sensual, dreamlike mix of French cinema and Theater , classical, Yiddish ,  and New  Tango, veined with mystery. At the center of this heady formula is Pellarin's hypnotic variety of accordion voices. And, complementing Pellarin, are the talents of saxophonist Diego Fano,  and percussionist Yann Pajean.

While it would seem their music has been honed for decades, it was only in 2003 that Pellarin’s long and steady pursuit of classical music, touring Europe, Canada and Asia for 20 plus years, became eclipsed and transformed by this passion for a veiled melange of musical styles. The trio performs almost entirely from Pellarin’s compositions, and what wells up in each is an inherent fascination with the intrigues of nature and theater. The music is a good bit beyond bal musette, and other cafe music. There’s a theatrical drift Pellarin compares to sensibilities of Chekov and Turgenev. And, no doubt, there are influences from his admirations of Bach, Mozart, Astor Piazzolla, John Williams, Lalo Schiffrin, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Nino Rota ...

We invite you to experience this strange dream of life, a fevered dance of allure and repulsion, familiarity and strangeness, balance and dizziness, the Jacques Pellarin trio.

National public radio for " CHAMPLONG " 's songs like Vagues à lames  have aired as extended " musical interludes " on the popular NPR program " Morning edition " in June 2007 with nearly 13 millions listeners !
