Judson Jones, along with being the Artistic Director of Theatre East, Judson also served as an Associate Director for Alchemy Theatre Company from 2005 - 2008, and is a Founding Member and Co-Producing Artistic Director of the dirigo group He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Texas Dramatists, and is an active member of First Look Theatre Company, Hyde Park Theatre Company, is a gracious member of Actors’ Equity Association, and proudly serves on the Steering Committee for the Barack Obama Campaign. His Off-Broadway credits include: Frank in Umbrella, Rick Childress in Harvest, Charles Spierling in Haymarket, all with Alchemy Theatre Company; and Sal in Worth at Urban Stages with Genisius Theatre Company. His other New York credits include Martin in Bayou Radio’s Blah, Blah, Blah; and Mark in The Information She Carried.
While working regionally Judson appeared in over twenty productions. Some of those productions include: Bruce Sr. in Thanksgiving at the Bateman’s, Bruce in Family Tradition, The German Student in The Soldier Dreams (Critics Table Award), and Greg in Bleacher Bums (Critics Table Award), all with Subterranean Theatre Company; Art in Art Striped Naked for Hyde Park Theatre; Macduff in A Macbeth with The State Theater Company (Critics Table Nomination and B. Iden Payne Nomination) Autolycos in ASF’s Winter’s Tale; Troubled John in Salvage Vanguard Theatre’s Fugitive Pieces (Critics Table Award and B. Iden Payne Nomination); Trigorin in the Mermaid Company production of The Seagull; Buzz Aldren in One Small Step, and Jones in Oversimplification, both with Bayou Radio; Putin in 300 Plays About Vladimir Putin with the Rude Mechanicals; Caswell in Orange with Refraction Arts; and as Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Austin Playhouse. His credits for the dirigo group include, Simeon in Desire (B. Iden Payne Award) Eddie in Fool for Love, Big “A” in The Gypsy Chain, Lee and Austin in True West, The Stranger in The Middle of the Night (Critics Table Nomination), and Ben in The Mercy Seat. He toured the Southeastern United States with Troup D’Jour performing such roles as Brutus in Julius Caesar, and the title role in Henry V. His film credits include: Fairy Blight, The Messenger, Green Eyes, Living, and Yorick. Some of his voice acting credits include Samurai X: The Motion Picture, Dai Guard, Getbackers, Nadia, Zaion, The Princess Blade, Steam Detectives, Gun Crazy, and Soul Hunter. You may have also seen him in the Absolut Cut ad for Absolute Vodka, or in the Internet hit Party Foul or Party Foul II. An interesting bit of trivia, some of his first professional work was with Noble Cause Productions performing in live jousts and as Aramis in the Three Musketeer Stunt Show.
Judson’s directing credits include: the New York Premier of Harvest, by David W. Crawford, with Alchemy Theatre Company; Bash with the dirigo group (Critics Table Nomination), S-Man with Scriptworks, and The Elf and Gift for Salvage Vanguard Theatre.
As a producer he has had the privilege or working alongside some inspiring collaborators. Some of those collaborations include: the Off Broadway production of David Wright Crawford's Harvest, and last January's New York premier of Christopher Durang's The Vietnamization of New Jersey, both with Alchemy Theatre Company; The Jinn (Five Critics Table Nominations, Two B. Iden Payne Nominations, and The American Theatre Critics Award), Hedda (B. Iden Payne Nomination and Three Critics Table Nominations), Bash (B. Iden Payne Award and Four Critics Table Nominations), Desire (Critics Table Nomination and Four B. Iden Payne Awards), and Home Free, all with the dirigo group.
