I am an actress who had a story in my lil 'ol head. I sat down over the New Years weekend and wrote my first short film. I had originally wanted a dear friend of mine to write the script. He encouraged me to write it myself after having read some of my lil short stories/poems. After writing the first draft I did have him read it and he offered some great tips on writing dialogue, action etc. By Feb. 2007 I was searching out directors, DPs, actors, PAs etc. This was all new to me! I have been a professional actress for about 3 years but had no idea how to "make a film." So off I went! I already knew who I wanted to DP my film, Gabriel Diniz. I had worked with him on a film I acted in about a 9 months earlier. I contacted him and he was all about it! I think he was quite excited that I wanted to shoot on super 16 b/w. The DP then gave me a couple names that were interested in directing my project. I met with Jay Guffey and we hit it off, same vision and everything from day one. After not having any luck with other directors I had met with, I knew Jay was my guy. I then started on re-writes, casting and studying with acting coach Chris Holder for my role. After 3 months of hard work, learning, preparation etc. We were all ready to start filming on April 20th. We did shoot on super 16. It is a period film taking place in the 1940s. I always saw the story in my head in B/W so that is what we did. This film is about a woman whos fiance dies in the war. She does not know how to move on from his death. Gabriella makes an interesting choice on how to replace her "lover" Anthony. In the end she starts to come to the realization she may have went about this all wrong. Does she continue what she has been doing, does she finally move on and choose to live or does she make the decision to "join" Anthony???
