Natasha Chandel is a triple threat performer - an actor, singer, and dancer/instructor with the renowned international dance institute, Shiamak’s Indo Jazz Dance Movement (SIJDM).  Natasha’s work has garnered numerous awards.  She starred as the lead in the short film, PRIA.  It has won the Platinum Remy Award for ‘Best Romantic Comedy’ at the Houston Worldfest, ‘Student’s Choice Award’ at the Sprocket’s International Film Festival for Children, and was selected as the only Canadian film in the Top 7 at NBC’s Comedy Short Cuts, going on to win its Online Audience Choice Award!  PRIA has also screened at 15 film festivals across North America and worldwide, including in Los Angeles, Bermuda, New York, Toronto, Australia, and even aired on the Sundance Channel.  She has grown up in theater, acting in plays like Jump Foh Yuh Wife and was part of the ensemble cast of two productions of the acclaimed Vagina Monologues.  In 2006, the Reel World Film Festival selected Natasha as an “Emerging 20”, making her one of three actors chosen to work with Hollywood soap star Tonya Lee Williams to help advance their careers.  The versatile actor can be seen as the subdued Rohini on CBC’s 11 Cameras, in a fat suit for the medical documentary Plastic Makes Perfect, and as the sexy Fatima in the hot new drama M.V.P!  Natasha takes a full 360 when she stars across Ally Mc Beal’s Gil Bellows in the quirky short HAPPENchance, as his misfit soulmate.  She has also lent her voice for the upcoming TV pilot, Aaron Stone, and CBC’s radio documentary titled India Reborn, and Deepa Mehta’s latest feature Heaven on Earth.  

Apart from the performance world, Natasha is a graduate of Ryerson’s acclaimed Radio and Television Arts program.  As a young, award-winning media professional, Natasha’s experience has spanned across producing, publicity, reporting/hosting, writing, production, distribution and casting!  She has worked for major television networks in Canada and even MTV Networks in New York City; she assisted Camelia Frieberg, one of Canada’s top independent producers (The Sweet Hereafter, Exotica, Bollywood/Hollywood) on Camelia’s directorial debut feature film A Stone’s Throw, which made its debut at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival.

Natasha is currently working on her literary debut; and was recently identified as a “leading Protégé for creativity” in Toronto, to be featured in the 2008 Luminato Toronto’s Mille Femmes photographic exhibition, honouring 1000 creative women in the city of Toronto!
