Background: 
I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I picked up the guitar at age 10. I joined my first band by the age of 13, and by the end of my high school career I had created and participated in about 5 bands, playing rock, funk, acoustic rock, and metal. I also played in my high school Big Band Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Guitar Ensemble, and sang in the high school Men’s Choir. I spent a year studying music and playing jazz at the University of Oregon.
