“PC load letter? WTF does that mean?” – one of the funniest lines from the movie Office Space, gave PC Load Letter their name and also describes their musical style. Hearing PCLL play their aptly named “Surf Song”, which also breaks down into a harder sound, and then go into their country ballad, “Heaven”, you might say to yourself “WTF does that mean?” PCLL doesn’t play just one style – they’re influenced by classic rock, hard rock, blues, punk, surf rock, hip hop, and metal, which shows in their eclectic music. They don’t copy their influences - they mix and match different styles within one song and do it again with different styles in the next. Their energetic stage presence, incredible music ability, and fun attitude will also have you saying “WTF – these guys are awesome!”
PCLL is currently working on songs for a new CD and plans to play shows all over western Washington in support of it. This will be their third CD and follow up 2005’s Playing the Game and 2006’s Give it all Away. In addition to being a melting pot of different styles, their song library is also a mix of fun and playful as well as serious and soulful.
PCLL came together in 2005 and consisted of childhood friends, Elvin Bucu (drums), Jake Gray (bass), and Chris Vincent (guitar), as well as vocalist Caleb Michael. After recording Playing the Game, the band parted ways with Caleb in 2006. Chris then took over lead singing duties, giving the band an edgier, more rock and roll sound, which was evident on Give it all Away.
They have played countless shows at bars and clubs all over Seattle and the East side, playing with other popular local acts, like Second Coming, Surface Tension, Sunderlyn, Counterfist, and The Subdwellers. Venues love the energy and people that PCLL bring to shows and always ask them back.
When not playing shows with PCLL, Elvin is a member of the Seahawks Drumline, “Blue Thunder”. Chris also plays solo acoustic shows in area bars and pubs. And, Jake and Chris starred in a short, independent film project called Nowhere to Turn in 2006. This film was about a struggling rock band and the pressures they face.
While their name gets a lot of attention (like when Ari Spool designated PC Load Letter as the “Worst Band Name” in The Stranger’s “Line Out Music Blog”), their music gets even more attention. On Indiecharts.com, BB Cane states, “Your song, ‘Give it all Away’ crosses over into more than a few genres. Rock solid lyrics and extra strong vocals with great reverb, excellent mix, complex drums, wonderful rhythm and a very all pro bluesy lead. I am leaving you all fives, because it has hit written all over it.” Local music magazine NadaMucho.com picked PCLL as 1 of 9 bands to be featured in their "Best of 2007 New Music Mondays" concert series in early 2008.
PCLL hopes their upcoming CD will delight current fans and attract new ones. They would also love to be able to tour outside western Washington in the future. They continue to produce original sounds influenced by the great music of the past and appeal to teenagers and parents alike.
