, GBR Playwright, screenwriter, and librettist
I am an Italian-born writer who grew up in Portugal and Spain, then lived many years in the United States. Moving to London in 1994, I tried my hand at writing drama. My first one-act play, BAD SAMARITANS GO PLACES, was produced in 1997 at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden Town, followed by the full-length black political farce BOTERO FOREVER (2000). I wrote the libretto of the musical JACK DAGGER (music by Neil Fitzsimon and Laurence Mark Wythe) which was showcased at Greenwich Theatre as part of Musical Futures 2004. My first feature, the British indie romcom ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE? (co-writer) was shot in 2005 and premièred in May 2006 at the Cannes Film Festival. It went on to win the Audience Award at the Cardiff Film Festival and scooped up 6 out of 16 awards at the Monaco International Film Festival in December 2006 (including the one for Best Screenplay). Presently working on a number of screenplays, as well as on an ambitious Anglo-Brazilian musical titled MANAUS. I am always on the lookout for new composing talent willing to move beyond the tired old parameters of the Broadway/West End canon.
