The Living
Band / Progressive Rock / Avant-Garde / International
Vancouver, British Columbia , CAN
The Living

"The Living" - possibly the most universal name a band could have - reflects the band's main objective, which is to embrace the essence of each existing genre of music, and blend it together with the cream of several other genres to concoct something exotically unique yet refreshingly familiar. This unusual scheme has gained The Living not only an inimitable sound, but an uncommon following in its birthplace of Vancouver, Canada.  At an average Living concert it is not unusual to see classical music enthusiasts, indie scenesters, metal heads, hippies, college students and artists brushing shoulders in the same room.

The Living's main influences stretch from classical composers like Stravinsky, Ravel, John Adams, and Piazzolla, to fusion bands such as The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Shakti, to rockers Motley Crue and unique high-energy acts such as Mr. Bungle, Ozomatli, Mindless Self Indulgence and The Mars Volta.  Still, the band's philosophy remains that influences are infinite and inspiration can come from anywhere.

The Living is made up of mostly classically-trained yet open-minded musicians, all with eclectic musical tastes and a passionate desire for artistic exploration.

"What are we if we are not the sum of everything that came before us?" - Leonard Bernstein

The Living would like to thank Meg Todd (lead vocals) and Kyle Shepard (vocal FX, didjeridoo, percussion) for their contributions to the album.
