Professional Hair Stylist Tony Cozart grew up in Durham, N.C., but now resides in Charlotte, NC. Cozart began his cosmetology studies while in high school. He took a course in cosmetology during those formulative years and found making women look glamorous came natural.“I decided to go into the hair profession because it was a God-given talent to me. I enjoy the change styling hair brings to a woman: the change in texture and the change in a woman’s personality once she gets up from the salon chair.” Cozart states.Once Cozart graduated from beauty school, he studied hair and its many textures at DeShazor Beauty College in North Carolina, one of the first black hair schools in the state. He furthered his education by attending the Carolina Beauty College in Durham, NC where he later became a student trainer in hair care and styling. “I taught the students one important lesson: When life is brought into a woman’s hair, life is breathed into their personality. And it’s nothing like seeing a confident woman with a beautiful hairstyle.”Cozart took his studies a step further and got his instructors licensed from the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art. Cozart also attends numerous conferences each year to continue his education and keep up with the newest products on the market.“I have an appreciation of my job. That appreciation came through a God-given revelation: ‘a woman’s hair is her glory’. And God has put me in charge of that glory - her hair. I respect my profession as a gift from the Most High God.”
